Rabbi Daniel Roth, M.D. learned in prominent yeshivos in Montreal, New York, and Yerushalayim, and received his semicha from HaRav Pinchus Hirschprung, ZT”L, the previous chief rabbi of Montreal. He gives shiurim in many venues, to many different types of groups, on a variety of topics, including medical ethics and Jewish philosophy. He is the author, with Rabbi Pinchos Bodner, of The Halachos of Refua on Shabbos.
Rabbi Roth, MD is a retinal surgeon and a Professor of Medicine at Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He received his M.D. from Yale University School of Medicine, and trained in ophthalmology and retinal surgery at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami and The Cleveland Clinic.
Rabbi Dr. Roth was awarded a Howard Hughes NIH Research Fellowship, which he used to research ocular oncology and ocular molecular biology at Wills Eye Hospital. He has written chapters for numerous medical textbooks, and his research on eye disease has been published in many medical journals.
